  2. Monday, October 28th, 2019 Question of the Week: If you knew you were going to die in a car crash on the night you graduated from high school, would going to school still be worth it? Why? • Please make sure your response is in complete sentences. • Please make sure you write the date in your composition book.

  3. Prepositions, Appositives, Infinitives and Participial Group-like Memorization-ritual memorization Write the questions and answers in your notebook. For a grade. What is a preposition? What is an appositive? What is an infinitives? What is a participial?

  4. Preposition What is a preposition? A preposition is a word usually preceding a noun or pronoun and expressing a relation to another word or element in the clause. Tamara cooked dinner for her familyin the kitchen. What words start the prepositional phrases in each sentence? Why are they prepositional phrases?

  5. Appositives What is an appositives? An appositive is a noun or a noun phrase that next to another noun to rename it or to describe it in another way. Vinnie told Anna, the one with blonde hair, a funny story about school. Why is “the one with blonde hair” the appositive phrase?

  6. Infinitive What is an infinitive? An infinitive is the verb in its basic form. The infinitive form of a verb is usually preceded by to, but not always. I like to go swimming with my family. Her job was to teach me Spanish. What is the basic form of the verb in each of the sentences and what precedes or what is before it?

  7. Participial What is a participial? A participle is a word formed from a verb which can be used as an adjective. Present Participial: -ing Past Participial: -ed, -d, -t, -en, or ‘n Walking along the river, Joe slipped and fell in. Is it a present or past participial? Why?

Write a sentence using a participial phrase. Word Bank: Halloween, energy, hyper, trick or treat, Frankenstein, and monotheism-belief there is only one God (Can use other words)

  15. Research for the Annotated Bibliography (BGB) Sophomores must completed an Annotated Bibliography as required for the 4-year Basha Gives Back Project. Before Sophomores complete the Annotated Bibliography, him or her must find primary or secondary sources related to their Essential Problem or Essential Question. Today, students will be looking for six reliable sources for their Annotated Bibliography project, which will be worked on in the upcoming weeks. The Annotated Bibliography is the Final Written Exam for the 1st Semester. It’s worth 10% of your final grade.

  16. Primary/Secondary Sources Table • Article Title/Website’s Name/Author/Source Type • Summary of the article • Essential Problem? Solution? Causes? Historical Background? • What is the central idea of the article? The table must be completed by the end of the period. It’s worth 25 points. 0 points if it not completed by the end of the period. Once the student has found their first source, please raise your hand and ask if this is a reliable source before you can begin reading it.
