  • Used as staple food in

    China, India, and Africa

    before rice.

  • Currently sustains 1/3 of world's population


  • Small, round yellow colored grain with mildly sweet, nut-like flavor

  • Examples of uses: porridge, breads, cabbage rolls

  • 11% protein content

  • Provides 2.3g fiber per cup (cooked)

Millet Patty Ingredients

  • Water

  • Millet

  • Chopped onions

  • Grated carrots

  • Corn starch

  • Corn starch

  • Garlic salt

  • Guar gum

  • Parsley

Procedure

  • Cook millet in covered pot with water for 25 minutes.

  • Mix onions and carrots with cooked millet, garlic salt, and parsley.

  • Sift guar gum and corn flour into mixture.

  • Mix corn starch with water and add to the millet mixture.

  • Form patties and bake at 400°F for 25 minutes.
