  5. School Observations • The pathway to the school winds through a neighborhood. It is a very large school and it looks very new and well-kept. • As you enter through the main doors, you find yourself in the cafeteria. • There are several sets of displays, flags, previous class pictures and the like. • To arrive at my mentor teacher’s classroom you pass the main office, turn right, go up the stairs and continue left until you reach room 203.

  6. Classroom Observations • My mentor teacher’s classroom has many colorful posters and decorations, most of which have been provided by the work of her students. • The tables are made up of four desks and the students have a seating chart. • There is one large window and the room is connected to another teacher’s room. • There are two hanging TVs and two computers as well. • There is a little table with chairs where my colleague and I usually sit as we observe. • There are two white boards and an analog clock on the wall. • The carpet is multi-colored and the room appears to be in good shape.

  7. School Reflections • I am glad to be interning in a school that is well-kept and seems to have many resources. I would like to know if those resources are being used efficiently and effectively. • I would like to know more about the counseling department and the career advising department as well. • I would like to see the relationship between a well-kept school in a flourishing city related to the test scores of students in comparison with the scores of students living in disadvantaged cities in schools without the necessary resources. • I would also like to see those scores related to the number of MSU-certified educators.
