2nd way to indent first line of multiple paragraphs: • Select the paragraphs • Drag first line indent marker on ruler
What if….. • You have already typed a document but failed to indent paragraphs: • Select all of document • Click and hold first line indent & slide over ½ inch.
Hanging Indent: • The first line of the paragraph hangs to the left and every other line receives the indent.

Footnotes/Endnotes: • Footnote- Explanatory note at the bottom of the page • Endnote- explanatory note at the end of the document • Superscript- raised numbers or letters

2 ways to Modify a style: • Ex: change style, indent, double space • Right click in note pane • Style in the shortcut menu • Choose footnote text from list • Click modify button • OR: • Click styles and formatting button on formatting toolbar
Word Count: • Tools menu • Word count
Page Breaks: • Soft Page Break- a page break automatically inserted by Word when it determines the text has filled one page • Hard Page Break- a page break forced into the document by the user

Smart Tags: • A button that automatically appears on the screen when Word performs a certain action.
Smart Tags: • Autocorrect options: undoes an automatic correction, stops future automatic corrections of this type, or displays the autocorrect options dialog box • Paste options- specifies how moved or pasted items should display, e.g., (1) with original formatting, (2) without formatting, or with different formatting.
