  2. Main vision • SG will becomeoneofthemaintoolsusedfortrainingandlearning

  3. What do weneedtoachievethis? • SGs will have become a reliable tool for learning and training for within more areas that for which we can bring a proof of concept today. • SGs will be adaptable to users’ needs and offer individual feedback and learning progress • Offer Intelligent user interactions • Offer real world interactions • Authoring tools will promote the rapid and cheap customization of contents and learning procedures • Become affordable through • “Cheap”, reusable and interoperable solutions • services configurable on demand

  4. Roadmapobjectives • Confirmation of SG and GBL as a scientific and professional discipline • To indicate areas of intervention for research, development and deployment expected in key areas • Look at the needs and requirements from different perspectives (holistic view) • Industrial (Supply and Demand) • Educational • Application fields • Horizon is set on the long-term R&D agenda • SG will take advantage of latest development in the key research areas

  5. Main questions driving the Roadmap: • What are the underlying frames that define the ‘utility of games for society, business and politics’ now and in the near future (2020)? • What are the main research and application challenges that can be derived from these frames? • How can these research and application challenges be operationalized into more concrete actions and activities that can give guidance to strategic research, policy and business agenda’s?

  6. What do wewanttoachieve • Provide strategic guidelines: • Future research and development activities within SG and GBL • To overcome the identified challenges • Reduce the related risks for involved stakeholders • Support innovation uptake and SG deployment • Support market introduction

  7. Methodologicalapporach

  8. Structure

  9. Year 4

  10. Currentstate & needforwork • Preliminary roadmaps: • Based on internal expert knowledge • Based on input from documents (PA, TC, SIGs, review PhDs, literat. like D6.3 etc) • Most activities already under investigation (i.e. started years ago) • Actions still being high level • Based on the analysis of the preliminary state of the art delivered by most TC and SIGs in the period 04.-08.13 • Some updated from TC and SIGs in September and October • Identified challenges • All TCs, SIGs, WP 4, 6 and 7 need to update their SOTA

  11. Involvement TC2.9 TC 2.10 TC2.1 TC2.2 TC2.3 TC2.4 TC2.5 TC2.6 TC2.7 TC2.8 WP 6 Roadmap (WP 1) WP 7 Externals WP4 Gala and assoc. SMEs Associated SIG3.6 SIG 3.1 SIG3.2 SIG 3.3 SIG 3.5 SIG 3.4

  12. Tasks tocarry out fromeach SIG/TC, WP • Definition of events for dissemination and validation (21.2.14) • A short guideline on a structured review of SOTA will be provided by 10.2.2014 –by Jannicke with help of Liz • Up date state of the art (1. ver. by 26.2.14, 2. 22.3.14) • Identify gap between vision and SOTA (6.3.14, and 12.4.14) • Prioritization of topics, detailed roadmaps from each area (7.3.14 and 4.4.14) • Relation to overall vision • Challenges • Actions • Implications and dependencies (both within SIG/TC etc, as well as in between) • June update the SOTA based on lit. TCs

  13. Additional tasks • Policy scans looking further than we did so far etc • Horizon scan will start with an • inventory analysis of current work • detecting early signs of potentially important developments through a systematic examination of potential threats and opportunities, • emphasis is on new technology and its effects on the issue at hand. • need to determine what is constant, what changes, and what constantly changes. • must explore novel and unexpected issues including persistent problems and trends. • need to include matters at the margins of current thinking that challenge past assumptions. • used to develop the big picture behind the issues to be examined. • Study shared perspectives and knowledge so as to 'scan' how new phenomena might influence the future. • This scanning will be supported by the implementation of methods from strategic management

  14. Main roadmap -dates • 1. Draft new version– March 20. • 2. Draft Y4- April 25. • Internal review (of the draft and parts to be released as info) • Validation and dissemination period 15.5-25.8. 2014 • 3. Draft (including the literature review and validation results) 7.9.2014 • Internal review • Final version submission 30.9.2014

  15. Where do i find thedocuments? • Will use the VRE so that everybody have access • Existing material will be made WP 1 folder until 8.2.2013 for each sig, TC, WP etc. • A structured approach for SOTA will be provided • Existing material on identified challenges, frames etc. • References- will use Mandalay, a group exists already • It is important that we know who has been involved – please add the names and the changes in the provided lists for the documents • For ease of coordination- I will set up short meetings every 14.days (but not all at once)

  16. Recommendationfrom RR A specific dissemination plan for the Roadmap should be delivered within two months: • Latest date of delivery: March 9. 2014 • Multi-channel approach: • Only specific interested persons will read the whole document • The main roadmap will serve as a reference document and will be at the SGS as an active document • For each thematic area it will be short documents available: • TC; each SIGs; • Industrial Supply and Demand, Education • Article IJSG and other journal, round tables, conferences etc. • SOTA parts will be put online for comments as a week after due date, published every 2. day or something similar also on TelME • Video? • Make a game? • Some more creative ideas would be nice!
