Countries around the world have become increasingly interested in the potential contributionsof information technology in healthcare delivery and education, and the development of an interconnected, electronic health information infrastructure to improve access, quality, safety and efficiency in their healthcare systems. In the process of implementing such systems and establishing the requisite infrastructure, organisations had to face a wide range of challenges, which need strong international cooperation (joining needs, competences, resources, etc.) to be addressed. Background The Specific Support Action “@HEALTH” aims to contribute to the future international co-operation in IST by facilitating the share of knowledge, skill and information about technologies and applications in the e-Health sector between Europe and Latin America; as well as opening a new window for exploring mutual benefits and increasing access to Europe and Latin America markets opportunities.

The main objectives of the @health project are to: • Develop an e-Health Virtual Community to enable European and LAM researchers, industries, and organisations to access and exchange knowledge, skills, technologies and facilities, and to stimulate international cooperation • Realise Specific Support, Awareness Creation and Dissemination actions to stimulate the development of joint RTD projects, facilitate knowledge sharing, and exchange of researchers, creating a long-lasting, self-sustainable structure in the international cooperation in eHealth field. OBJECTIVES

The specific objectives of the @HEALTH project are: • To create an eHealth Virtual community, to serve as an open forum for dialogue between users (health sector), developers and research organisations (ICT companies and Academic Sector) from different European and LAM countries • To map relevant organisations and competences related to eHealth in Europe and Latin America. The classified data will be included in a DB accessible through the @HEALTH Virtual community, facilitating search of organisations and competences • To realise specific Awareness creation and Dissemination actions (Workshops, Mailings, Information Campaign) to stimulate International cooperation, joint RTD projects, exchange of researchers • To create and implement a sustainable Business Model that will allow the @HEALTH Community to be kept alive after project’s end SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

Access to a Database with information on organisations (and related expertise) operating in the e-health sector in EU and LAM countries. • Information and continuous support on funding opportunities available to realise international RTD projects • Information about e-Health current needs in EU and LAM, to be addressed through available technologies and research projects • Information on the State Of The Art, including e-Health applications and enabling technologies, Best Practices, Pilot Projects, and On going RTD projects • You will be invited to publish your articles and white papers in the @HEALTH Web Portal to share knowledge and promote your achievements in the sector • Your organisation will be invited to take part to international brokerage events, where you will have the opportunity to meet with top level professionals of the sector Benefits
