  2. Whatis the Green IndustryInnovation programme? Objective: Increasedcompetitiveness of green enterprises, includinggreening of existing industries, green innovation and green entrepreneurship

  3. A business developmentprogramme • Complementaryto other EU initiatives and opportunties • Financial contributionfrom Norway EUR 24 mill. • Primary target group : private sector enterprises • Secondary target groups: could be public bodies, universities and non-governmental organisations (NGOs)

  4. All projects have to aim at a final result of improving the environmental performance of enterprises

  5. Realization of business opportunities of greening of the economy Reduced production of waste and reduced emissions to air, water and ground More use of environmentally friendly technologies Increased green job creation and entrepreneurship. Expectedoutcomes

  6. What may be supported? Projects need to fall inn under one (or more) of three categories: • Environmental innovation • Greening of new and existing enterprises • Entrepreneurship

  7. EXAMPLESEnvironmentalinnovation • New packaging methods and materials that reduce environmental impact e.g. in the food sector • Environmental criteria for smart purchasing decisions in enterprises and in public sector. • Facilitate the integration of life cycle thinking in business. • Support waste reduction and process optimisation in the meat and dairy industry - Eco waste management

  8. EXAMPLES: Greening of new and existingenterprises • Modernisationof existing plants • Production process, production and management • Recovery, use and re-use of recycled materials • Development or expansion of a manufacturing for renewable energy and energy efficiency products or components.

  9. EXAMPLES Entrepreneurship • Support the establishment of entrepreneur networks – Eco training and awareness networks. • Support training and campaigns in form of conferences on green entrepreneurship for businesses, aspiring and incubating entrepreneurs and students. Treehugger.com
