  11. Program – Gordie Gordon introduced Tony Clements, retired Director of Campus Recreation, who performs at the annual Clements Comedy Café.

  12. The Comedy Café will be held Saturday, April 27th at 7:30pm at the Virginia Theatre.

  13. Proceeds from the show last year supported the Champaign Parks Foundation and provided fee waivers for disadvantaged youth. http://tonyclements.net/comedy/

  14. The show will also include the band, Tons of Fun and will be the first live show in the newly renovated Virginia Theatre.

  15. Tony was a UI employee for 36 years but also graduated from and played football with the Illini.

  16. He went to high school in Raleigh NC but his father attended Champaign High School.

  17. Tony gave us a quite comical presentation as he talked about funny experiences in his life. For example, at the end of the Indiana basketball game, after the layup by Griffey the officials had to review the play and they put 0.3 sec on the scoreboard.

  18. Tony found it funny that people would keep coming up to him and ask “Is the game over?” even after the officials were gone and the entire floor was covered with students cheering. Now that is indeed very funny.

  19. It was also funny when he mentioned something about getting old and forgetting who told you what. What did he say?

  20. I think everyone enjoyed his ‘leaf rule’ in golf - you know how leaves fall on the golf balls and you can't find your ball? How about his first golf hole in one in November.

  21. However, he was wishing it had occurred 20 years earlier, because at age 63 your witnesses are worthless.

  22. Tony was on the 1969 football team that went 0-10.

  23. They were so bad that the offense would not ride on the same bus as the defense.

  24. They were so bad that other teams were writing our coach asking if they could have them play at their homecoming game the next year.

  25. Tail Twister – Omer Benn asked Rich Suchomski to carry the bucket.

  26. He fined Gordie Gordon for having won the lottery, and then he fined himself,

  27. and his table

  28. for Ed
