  6. Should you add or subtract the numbers • If the signs are the same add • If the signs are different then you subtract • Remember in math difference means to subtract

  7. Your try all process • First determine if answer is positive or negative • 1. 8 + -11 • Negative • different so subtract • 8+ -11 = -3

  9. Whole process • 3. -30 + 27 • negative • different so subtract • -30 + 27 = -3
