  3. SAM Background • Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside (SAM) Serving a Population of ~25,000 • SAM’s Regional System Includes: • 3 Main Pumping Stations • 8-mile Wastewater Conveyance Line along Highway 1 • Wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Half Moon Bay • Ocean Outfall

  4. SAM Background (Cont’d) • 174 Sanitary Sewer Overflows Reported from 2000 to 2004 • USEPA Report to SAM; Increase Capacity • SAM’s 2006 response to EPA report  Proposed Wet Weather Flow Management Project

  5. Project Purpose and Objectives • Prevent Untreated Sewage Overflows • Contain Infiltration and Inflow during Storm Events • Help Maintain Clean Beaches • Efficiently Manage Wet Weather Flow through System Conveyance &/or Storage Improvements

  6. Proposed Project • PROJECT: Wet Weather Flow Management Project • LEAD AGENCY: Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside (SAM) • LOCATION: Half Moon Bay, California

  7. Wet Weather Flow Management Project Components • Two Options Being Considered • One underground 600,000-gallon tank • Approximately 8,850-foot underground pipeline • Both options include improvements at the existing Portola Pump Station in El Granada
