  1. Blog2: Caisafety.com Safety First – With OSHA And ANSI Guidelines Professions related to construction, maintenance, repair and replacement often requires the employees to work at elevated surfaces. Working at heights involves many risks, primarily because the professional usually has all his attention focused on the work before him. In such cases, it becomes imperative to consider some kind of fall protection safety arrangement in order to ensure the employee’s well-being. Many safety arrangements are available for different work-environments, like horizontal lifelines, guardrail systems, etc. Occupational Safety and Health Administration outlines the mandate of using fall protection if an employee needs to work at a height greater than six feet. At this height if there is work in progress, then it becomes obligatory for the working professionals to use fall protection systems. In case standardised equipment for safety cannot be successfully implemented, alternative methods are required to be employed. There is danger of injury if a worker loses his balance and falls down accidentally. Therefore, the guideline mentioned above was put in place in order to ensure prevention of unnecessary accidents on a worksite. Similarly, the ANSI – American National Standards Institute – has released a comprehensive code that outlines practices and standards for worksite safety. This code is labelled Z359 standard, “Fall Protection Code.” ANSI fall protection standards are being adopted by federal, manufacturing, institutional and other organizations in order to eliminate the shortcomings of their protection programs and arrangements. It is a good thing that safety measures being adopted in these organizations are helping to create safer work environments.
