Design of LPV in Çanakkale (VI) CURRENT PUBLISHED NPA (VOR) PROCEDURE PROPOSED LPV APPROACH PROCEDURE • Compared to current NPA published procedures in Çanakkale, LPV offers: • Vertical guidance allowing continuous descent profile • Benefits in terms of engine noise and pollution • Reduction in the operational minima of more than 900 ft (~270 metres) • Independence from ground navaids Çanakkale VOR procedure (source: DHMI) Çanakkale LPV procedure (source: Pildo Labs)

Database coding process • LPV procedure is defined by a Final Approach Segment Data Block (FAS DB) with a Channel Number identifier: • The FAS DB is a set of parameters to identify a single LPV during the coding and define its associated approach path (including a CRC reminder) • The Channel Number consists on 5 numeric characters in the range 40000 to 99999 to identify an individual approach during operation • This data is provided to database coders (Jeppesen) to insert it in their systems • Receiver manufacturers (Garmin) • build the receiver’s database METIS Workshop Benefits of EGNOS in Civil Aviation, Istanbul 18 November 2009
