Geometry 3-5 Slope of a Line
Definition • Slope(m)- the steepness of a line. • Slope can also be called the “rate of change” • Slope = = • Formula for slope: m = y2 – y1 Rise Change in y Change in x Run x2 – x1
Example: Finding the Slope • Find the slope of AB, AC, DC, and AD.
Use the slope formula to determine the slope of JK through J(3, 1) and K(2, –1). Example
Use the slope formula to determine the slope of RT through R(4, -2) and T(0, -3). Example
