  1. Welcome to Supply Drop-Off & Curriculum Night!

Schedule for Tonight • Classroom Session 1 4:00 – 4:25 • Classroom Session 2 4:30 – 4:55 • Principal Presentation 5:00 – 5:25 • Classroom Session 3 5:30 – 5:55 • For our classroom sessions, the first 10 minutes, will be the PowerPoint, the next 15 will be for Supply Drop Off • Since we’ll be going through this PowerPoint quickly, this presentation will be on Konnect for you to read later.

Mathematics • Flexible Math Groups • The students will be grouped across the grade level based on student data to best meet their educational needs • Fact Practice • Otter Creek Rocket Math program • This program requires not just memorization of math facts, but automaticity of these facts • Also using the xtramath.org program in our classroom and at home • The scope & sequence for math will be posted on my Konnect page

Homework • Reading Homework: • Reading menu – starting in September • District requires students to read a minimum or 400 minutes per month. • Math: • Optional sheet related to that day’s math lesson – for practice or discussion • Will be assessed on this sheet the following day • Rocket Math half sheet • Xtramath.org (optional) • Word Study: • Reinforce word study patterns Homework will be written on the Homework Log every night!

Book Orders • First book order will be sent home next month. • Parents can order online! • Easy AND we get a free classroom book for every online order! • www.scholastic.com/bookclubs • Class Activation Code: GRV9V • You set your own username and password • Can still order by sending in cash or check (made out to Scholastic) if you don’t want to order online • Note with order info & book suggestions sent monthly • I use bonus points to add to classroom library

  17. Birthdays • School Treat Policy • If you’d like to donate a new or used book to the classroom, your child may practice reading it at home and then read it to the class on their birthday. • Pledge of Allegiance • Book from the Principal • Summer Birthdays • Classroom Recognition

November Conferences • Wednesday, November 6th(4-8 PM) and Thursday, November 7th (10-8 PM) • Sign up on poster in the multi-purpose room • (times are first come, first served) • Per district rules, conferences not held on these days must be a phone conference – teachers are not to reschedule outside the days of November 6th and 7th.

Forms to Complete • White Information Sheet (must initial and return, even if no changes are needed) • Pink Family Information Sheet (this is for my records) • Email for the school office as well • Please complete and return the above forms to the trays by the calendar before you leave tonight. • Volunteer poster (Follow the link on my Konnect page to the Google Doc) • Sign up for parent / teacher conferences in the multi-purpose room • Please complete the hot lunch survey in the LRC • When you are finished here be sure to check out the booths in the gym.

  20. Supply Drop – Off • Please use the permanent markers in the cups on the desks to label as directed. • Please get second graders involved as much as possible. • If you have any questions about where supplies go, feel free to ask!

  21. Supply Drop Off 1. CHAIR POCKETS • Black folder – please put “Take Home Folder” label on the upper front right corner • Allfolders – please place one label on each folder in the upper front right corner • All notebooks – please place one label on the upper front right corner • Binder – please place the label on the spine of the binder • Handwriting books – put the label on the upper front right corner and put in seat sack 2. SUPPLY BOX • Please put the label with your child’s name and homeroom on the top of the box • Put following items inside: 1 glue stick, 1 Expo marker, 2 sharpened pencils, pink eraser, highlighters 3. YELLOW CUBBY AT BACK OF CLASSROOM • Put art shirt, colored pencils, crayons, and markers (make sure everything is labeled with name) 4. CONTAINERS ON THE CARPET • Put all extra glue sticks, dry erase markers, and yellow pencils 5. ON THE KIDNEY-SHAPED TABLE • Plastic baggies, Kleenex, and paper towels ***Gym shoes go in cabinet with name on it
