  3. A – Z Journal List • Brings together print and electronic journals from local, national and free sources • Gives details of journal holdings and location • Need to log in with NHS ATHENS password to see full range of available titles Electronic journals

Accessing A – Z Journal List • Via NLH: • www.library.nhs.uk►Resources ► Books, Journals ►My Journals • Via NHS Evidence: • www.evidence.nhs.uk ►Conduct a Specialist Search ►Books & journals ►My Journals • Via ATHENS login (www.athens.nhs.uk) – select ‘My Journals’ from ‘NLH’ tab in list of resources Electronic journals

  5. A – Z Journal List • Login via ATHENS to see full range of available journals • Browse for a journal • Search for a journal Electronic journals

  6. Journal Sources • Ebscohost Databases • BMJ • JAMA • OVID • PCT e-subscriptions, e.g. via Ebsco EJS • Free sources, e.g. Free Medical Journals, Highwire • Local print subscriptions – all Shropshire NHS libraries Electronic journals

Ebscohost Databases • ‘Psychology and Behavioural Sciences’, ‘CINAHL Full Text’ and health management bundles • Need ATHENS password • Lots of embargos, but good back runs too • Can set up e-mail alerts within packages • Available via A – Z list and in database search results Electronic journals

  8. BMJ Journal Collection • Full text of all of BMJ and other BMJ journals • Includes Evidence Based titles, J Epidemiology and Community Health, Archives of Disease in Childhood • Available via A-Z list, journal search results or www.bmj.com Electronic journals

  9. JAMA collection • Journal of the American Medical Association • Nine other ‘Archives’ titles, including Archives of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine • Available via A-Z list or database search results Electronic journals

  10. Biomed Central • Electronic ‘open access’ journals • Peer reviewed research articles • Author/organisations pay publication costs – free access to all • Titles include cancer, nursing, psychiatry, public health, family practice, paediatrics, women’s health Electronic journals

Free Journals • Incorporates freely available journals from different sources • Free Medical Journals • Highwire Press etc • Sometimes need to register • Format and years vary: often links to individual journal web sites • Links from A-Z list and sometimes database search results (don’t always link direct to article) Electronic journals

PCT Journal Subscriptions • Journals to which PCTs Library Service has individual subscription • Two main suppliers each have single password/login for PCT users (see ‘Journal Passwords/Logins sheet) • Ebscohost EJS (as opposed to ‘Ebsco (CINAHL/Psychology ….’) • Blackwell Synergy Electronic journals

  13. ZETOC • Table of contents e-mails from Jan 2009 • Access via ATHENS or ‘My Library’ section of NLH • Not just healthcare journals • No links through to full text articles Electronic journals

E-books • Books from various publishers • Searchable by subject as well as title, author and keywords • Subjects covered: primary care, mental health, public health, health promotion (among others) • Need to log in with NHS ATHENS password to see range of available titles and full text Electronic journals
