  2. Treatment Courts in Vermont: ~~~~~ 3 Adult Treatment Court Dockets: Chittenden, Rutland and Washington Chittenden Mental Health Court Docket Franklin Juvenile Treatment Court Docket Caledonia Family Treatment Court Docket Windsor DUI Court Docket

  3. Adult Treatment Courts Serve: High needs/high risk individuals: those who are likely to continue to engage in criminal behaviorwithout an intervention. Criteria: Substance abuse addiction Co-occurring disorders Crimes related to substance abuse A potential sentence long enough to justify a 16-18 month program

  4. Treatment Courts Provide: • Intensive substance abuse treatment • Wrap around case management • Mental health treatment • Drug testing - twice a week • Regular status hearings before a judge • Referrals for: • housing and housing supports • health services • job skills training & employment • educational services • other needed supports

  5. Treatment Court Structure • Program Phases • Orientation Phase: • ~30 days • Clinical & legal eligibility • Orientation for referred individual • Change of plea • Plea agreement • Participant contract signed

  6. Phase 1: Stabilization: • Detoxification • Safe and sober housing • Residential treatment • Intensive outpatient treatment • Bi-weekly court sessions • Drug testing / 60 days

  7. Phases 2 & 3: Change & Recovery • As progress is made, there are additional requirements: • Treatment groups • Employment • Education • Aftercare plan • Monthly court sessions • Drug testing / 90 days.
