  3. Cougar Baseball Philosophy Three prong goal for our players • Have Fun. • Improve baseball skills. • Learn to overcome adversity.

  4. Cougar Baseball Philosophy Have Fun. • Baseball is supposed to be fun. I want the guys who come through the program to remember their experience as one that was ultimately fun. That’s not to say that everything will be fun along the way. But do your best to make things fun, celebrate small victories, and remember wins and losses do not define you.

  5. Cougar Baseball Philosophy Improve baseball skills. • We need to improve in baseball fundamentals, the mental aspect of the game, and we have to get stronger. The sustained success of our program depends on consistent improvement in all three areas.

  6. Cougar Baseball Philosophy Learn to overcome adversity • As in life, things in a baseball game never go as planned. In order to overcome adversity we (players and coaches) must take responsibility for the things we can control and learn to react appropriately to things we can’t control.

  7. Expectations Player Expectations • Hustle. • Try your best and be coachable. • Be a good teammate. • Treat officials and coaches with respect. • Have fun, make jokes, and celebrate victories big and small.

  8. Expectations Missing baseball Activities • Unexcused absences from team functions will result in the following penalties. • 1st offense – player will not start in the next game and will play at coaches discretion • 2nd offense – player will not play in the next game • 3rd offense – player will not play in the next two games • 4th offense - formal review to decide if the player will be permitted to continue in the program

  9. Expectations • *Excused absence include: doctor’s appointments, illness, weddings, funerals, religious obligations, college visits, school functions, court, family emergencies, and academic assistance (needs prior approval). • *Team functions include: school, tryouts, practice, meetings, service projects, fundraising events during the season, and games. • *If you miss two or more team functions on one trip you will stay at level two and have to sit a game. (ex. You go on vacation for 5 days, miss 5 games/practices. Upon your return, you will sit a game and be considered to have made your 2nd offense) • *If you are going to miss, please text your coach as soon as possible. • * Remember that after you have served your penalty, you will play at the coaches discretion.

  10. Expectations • Consequences for being late are handled on a case by case basis by the coach. • Appointments – Try to avoid scheduling appointments on game days. All appointments on game days will require a note from the doctor upon return.

  11. Expectations • *Do not ask to speak to a coach after the game about playing time • *Do not ask to have this conversation behind your son’s back • *Emails that do not follow this protocol will be forwarded to the AD without a response • *Concerns that go directly to the AD will be re-routed to the aforementioned protocol.

  12. Expectations • If a parent would like to discuss game related decision making. The answer is no. • Please stay out of the dugout during games and practices • Parents may attend practices as a spectator.

  18. Boosters • Who we are – We are parents of players / prospective players and we are the link that ties in the parents / families to the coach / player side of the Centennial Baseball Program. • Every parent that has a player on a Centennial high school baseball team is automatically part of the boosters’ organization • Who we aren’t – We do not make roster decisions, coaching decisions or play time decisions. We strictly support the Centennial Baseball Program through fundraising efforts

  19. Boosters Why We Need to Fundraise: • Each rostered player will pay a fee to play baseball through the high school. That fee covers the basic cost of running the program. Needs such as uniforms and one coach per team. • The Boosters’ organization was created to close the gap between what fees covered and what it takes to create a top-notch program that our coaches, players and parents are all proud of which to be a part.

  20. Boosters We understand that many baseball players are multi-sport athletes. The booster board is continually on the look out for fundraising ideas that are beneficial to the donor, while maximizing the dollars received by the program. • Cub Bagging – • Employer Match / Volunteer Hours • Outfield Signs • Bean Bag Tourney • Auction / Direct Donation • Raffle

  21. Boosters How You Can Help: • IDENTIFY BUSINESSES FOR OUTFIELD SIGNS • VOLUNTEER TO BE PARENT REP – ONE PER TEAM (more info after team formation) • VOLUNTEER TO BE TEAM PHOTOGRAPHER – UPLOAD PHOTOS TO SHUTTERFLY • SIGN UP A TEAM FOR THE BEAN BAG TOURNEY • AUCTION ITEMS • *********Join the Boosters************

We encourage everyone to participate but fundraising is not mandatory.
