  1. Vincent Van Gogh

  2. His Life • Vincent Willem Van Gogh was born the 30th of March 1853 in Groot-Zundert, Septentrional Bravant, Holland. • It has long been accepted that Vincent Van Gogh cut off his own ear with a razor after the row in Arles, Southern France, in 1888. But it is not true, in fact Gauguin swiped Van Gogh's ear off with a sword. • He produced more than 2,000 works, including around 900 paintings and 1100 drawings and sketches, during the last ten years of his life.

  3. On July 27, 1890, at the age of 37, whilst painting in a field he shot himself in the chest with a revolver. Without realizing that he was fatally wounded, he returned to the Ravoux Inn, where he died in his bed two days later. He suffered from depression, and it is suspected that it was a cry for help/attention rather than a genuine suicide attempt.

  5. His life in England • In 1873 he moved to England because he got promoted to Goupil’s London branch and a promise to have a raise of money , £90 a year . He loved the city and, although initially disappointed in British art, soon came to admire certain painters who expressed religious and moral sentiments.

  6. Whilst in England he fell in love with his landlady’s daughter , Eugenie, who was already engaged.
