Background information • After the French left Vietnam, the peace ‘plans’ were intended to help lead the country to decide on their new government leaders. • However, the country was instead divided- north from south at the 17th parallel of latitude. • North Vietnam was being led by a communist government with their leader Ho Chi Mihn.

  3. Domino Effect • The central reasoning fro why the Americans entered the Vietnam was to stop the South from falling to communist and also the rest of the world. They believed the in the ‘Domino theory’ which if one country in Asia fell the one next to it would do the same.

  4. The Last Stand • Vietnam was the country where America decided to take a stand and pour billions of dollars provide military support in weapons to the South Vietnamese to fight the war in Vietnam. This occurred after it became obvious that the French would be defeated.
