  1. System Overview › NU SKIN® TRI-PHASIC WHITE® The scientific method for brilliant skin

  2. Did You Know? • Many individuals value even skin tone and a bright complexion. This course will give you an overview of the Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White® System.

  3. Objectives • After viewing this course, you should have an understanding of the following: • What makes the Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White® System unique. • How the Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White® System works comprehensively. • Tri-Phasic White® demonstration and clinical study.

  4. Previous Curriculum Review: The Process of Pigmentation

  5. In the normal process of pigmentation, overall skin color is the result of a black-brown pigment (called melanin) in the cells in the upper-most layer of the skin. Melanin is produced by melanocytes, which are specialized cells within the epidermis (top layer of skin). The creation of melanin is the result of a three-phase process: Activation of the melanocyte. Synthesis of melanin within the melanocyte. Expression of melanin on the surface of the skin. Activation Synthesis Expression

  6. In addition to the normal pigmentation process, other factors can also cause melanin production. This extra melanin production can result in skin discolorations. Skin discolorations cause a loss of skin brilliance and luminosity. Skin appears uneven and dull. Hormones (Pregnancy) Irritants (Pollution) UV Light (Sun) Stress

  7. Introduction

  8. Tri-Phasic White® System • A comprehensive skin brightening system, Tri-Phasic White® works to minimize the activation, synthesis, and expression of discoloration on the skin’s surface.

  9. System Concept • As light illuminates the beauty of a translucent flower petal, a luminous butterfly wing, or a brilliant diamond, a radiant complexion lets your inner beauty shine through. • In nature, these beautiful qualities can be explained by science. • In you, a translucent, luminous, brilliant complexion can be revealed using a scientific method.

  10. Achieve your beauty potential with the scientifically advanced method of Tri-Phasic White.® • Clinically proven ingredient technologies featured in each product combine to create the Tri-Phasic White® method, making Tri-Phasic White® the most comprehensive skin brightening system available.

  11. DISCOLORATION The Nu Skin® Difference • Unlike systems that target one or two phases of the discoloration process, Tri-Phasic White® targets all three phases (in multiple ways) of the skin discoloration pathway: Activation Synthesis Expression For a translucent, luminous, brilliant complexion. The name Tri-Phasic White® reinforces that this system targets all three (Tri) phases (Phasic).

  12. Target Audience • Tri-Phasic White® is for all who desire a brilliant, luminous, even complexion, whether they are interested in skin brightening benefits or targeting uneven skin tone.

  13. Key Benefits • Reduces the appearance of existing dark spots, uneven skin tone, and discoloration for a more brilliant complexion. • Helps prevent the formation of new dark spots and discoloration for luminous, clear skin. • Maintains an even, bright skin tone for translucent beauty.

  14. Key Ingredients *Tri-Phasic White® Radiance Mask is a line extension to and is sold separately from the Tri-Phasic White® System.

  15. Role of Ingredients • Each product within the Tri-Phasic White® System utilizes a different key ingredient to attack a phase of the discoloration process in a unique and efficacious way. Activation Synthesis Expression DISCOLORATION

  16. Comprehensive Approach • Minimizes the activation of the discoloration process. • Inhibits the synthesis of discoloration. • Visibly reduces the expression of discoloration on the surface of the skin. • The Tri-Phasic White® method addresses all three phases of the discoloration process.

  17. Key Benefits and Ingredients Supported

  18. a) Reduces the appearance of existing dark spots, uneven skin tone, and discoloration for a more brilliant complexion. • Featuring Fairtrex,™ a proprietary non-acidic exfoliating complex, Tri-Phasic White® Toner immediately works to address existing discoloration by encouraging skin cell renewal. • Simultaneously, other ingredients work together to prevent new discolorations from forming.

  19. b) Helps prevent the formation of new dark spots and discoloration for luminous, clear skin. • The Tri-Phasic White® products, when used together as a system, feature key ingredients to target the activation, synthesis, and expression phases of the discoloration process. • By targeting all phases of the process—with ingredients like carnosine, hexapeptide-2, diacetyl boldine, and Brightex™—the Tri-Phasic White® System helps prevent new discolorations from forming.

  20. c) Maintains an even, bright skin tone for translucent beauty. • Because the Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White® System reduces the appearance of existing discolorations and helps prevent new discolorations from forming, Tri-Phasic White,® with continued use, effectively helps maintain an even, bright skin tone.

  21. Clinical Study • In a 12-week clinical study, 29 Japanese women, with mild to moderate discoloration on the face, applied the Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White® System to the whole face twice per day according to standard use instructions. • The performance of the Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White® System was assessed by clinical graders at weeks four, eight, and 12. In addition, a self-assessment questionnaire was administered at weeks four, eight, and 12.

  22. Percent of Participants Exhibiting Improvement Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White®Performance by Clinical Grader • The chart to the left illustrates the percent of participants who demonstrated improvement after 12 weeks in each of the six attributes tested. • Following is the percent of participants exhibiting improvement as observed by professional graders: • 93 percent improved in brightness. • 97 percent improved in radiance. • 97 percent improved in even skin color. • 79 percent improved in smoothness.* • 83 percent decreased in area of mottled appearance. • 100 percent improved in overall appearance. % of Subjects with Improvement A B C D E F • Brightness • Radiance • Even color • Smoothness • Mottled area • Overall improvement *Smooth skin demonstrates better light reflection and appears brighter.

  23. Study Participant Self-Assessment Nu Skin® Tri-Phasic White® Self-Assessment • Study participants were asked to complete a self-assessment questionnaire. The table below shows the percentage of subjects reporting positive responses for six different product attributes (data illustrated in chart on left). % of Improvement A B C D E F

  24. Clinical Study • Conclusions: • The 12-week clinical study on Tri-Phasic White® showed significant skin brightening benefits for all subjects. Improvement did not plateau at 12 weeks. With continuous regimen usage, users will continue to see increased benefits. • The results showed consistent improvements over weeks four, eight, and 12 for multiple attributes, including: brightness, radiance, even color, roughness improvement, and overall improvement. • Results of a self-assessment questionnaire showed subjects had positive responses to the aesthetics of the products, the system as a whole, and the skin brightening benefits.

  25. When Is Using a Demonstration Effective? • Demonstrations are appropriate anytime you want to enhance your presentation with audio, visual, and kinesthetic learning aids. • Demonstrations are also effective to help explain difficult topics and to keep your audience involved.

  26. Demonstration • The following demonstration provides a visual object lesson to establish the importance of targeting all three phases—activation, synthesis, and expression—of the discoloration process.

  27. Demonstration • Preparation: • For large group meetings, obtain an overhead projector. • For a one-on-one version of this demonstration, a flashlight can be used in place of the overhead projector. The transparencies can be shrunk down to fit more comfortably over the face of a flashlight. • Place four transparencies on top of each other. The bottom transparency will have images that represent the ideal, luminous, transparent complexion. On top of this first transparency will be the second transparency with images that depict aspects of the “activation” phase of the discoloration process. The third transparency will have images depicting the “synthesis” phase of the discoloration process. The fourth and final transparency will depict images representing the “expression” of discoloration. When the overhead projector is turned on, the bottom image is clouded by the three transparencies on top of it.

  28. Demonstration • Giving the demonstration: • Point out that most leading skin brightening systems target only one phase of the discoloration process, but that is not enough to provide dramatic results. • Remove the top transparency. Point out that when you target only the expression of discoloration it does brighten the overall complexion a small amount, but there are other phases in the discoloration process at work.

  29. Demonstration • Giving the demonstration: • Replace the expression transparency and then remove the other phases individually, expressing to the crowd that targeting one phase does brighten the complexion a small degree but not significantly. • Then remove all three transparencies— activation, synthesis, and expression—at the same time.

  30. Demonstration • Giving the demonstration: • The overhead projector will beam bright. • Explain to your audience that when all three phases—activation, synthesis, and expression—of discoloration are targeted, your full beauty potential shines through.
