  1. 4/2/2012 Standards: 6 (Solutions) Objectives: ●Mr. Wigger Absent - problems to practice material from Ch 15.1 & 15.2 DO NOW: 1. Ch 15 Assess, p. 484-485 64 thru 67, 76 (a thru c), 77 (a thru c) HOMEWORK: 1. Be sure you have calculated the mass % and M for your lab group and all other lab groups. 2. Get prepared for Mem. Ions 4 re-test - will happen either Tu or Wed. Quiz you took last week will only be 5 points, and the retest will count as 45 points. ========================================================= BASKET: 1. Ch 15.2 PP's, p. 468 21-23 (1 pt) 2. Ch 15.2 Assess, p. 470 28, 30, 32 (1 pt) 3. Ch 15 Assess, p. 485 78-82 (3 pts)

  2. RESPONDERS TODAY 4/3/2012 Standards: 6 (Solutions) Objectives: ● CST Released Questions 26-30 - responder quiz ● Understand how to make & dilute molar solns using M1V1 = M2V2 ● Understand how to complete your lab - Mass% & M   ● molality and colligative properties DO NOW: 1. problems p469 #24 HOMEWORK: 1. Complete and turn in Mass% & Molarity (M) lab (20 pts) 2. p. 469 24 & 25 (2 pts) Std 6 3. take notes on Making Molar Solns - Animation (3 pts) ========================================================== STAMPS:  ●  Journal - NONE 1. Ch 15.2 PP's, p. 468 21-23 (1 pt) 2. Ch 15.2 Assess, p. 470 28, 30, 32 (1 pt) 3. Ch 15 Assess, p. 485 78-82 (3 pts)

  4. Homework on making molar solutions using this animation http://www.mhhe.com/physsci/chemistry/animations/chang_7e_esp/crm3s1_2.swf First animation: Make 1.00 L of a 1.00 M solution of NaCL 1. Select the 1 L volumetric flask because you want exactly 1 L of solution 2. Click on the "tare button" to zero the balance w the flask on it. 3. We need one mole of NaCl. 1 mol NaCl = 58.44 g NaCl In order to make 1.00 L of solution we will need to figure like this: 4. Next we add enough water to fill 1/2 of the flask, and mix the solution until all NaCl dissolves. 5. Pour enough water to come up close to the line, and add the rest of the water with a dropper until the bottom of the meniscus is barely touching the line. 1.00 mol 1 58.44 g NaCl 1 mol NaCl x = 58.44 g NaCl So, we weigh out 58.44 g NaCl by pouring it into the emply flask

  5. For the other two animations, do exactly as you saw written on the prior page. Now you will need to make these 2 solutions using the animation: 2nd Animation Make 500.0 mL of a 0.0250 M solutions of K2Cr2O7 solution. 3rd Animation Make 100.0 mL of a 0.125 M solution of KMnO4 solution. Animation also available on my website at: www.mrwiggersci.com/chem "Learning Center" > "Web Helps" > Ch 15 > Concentration (first flash animation)

  6. 4/4/2012 Standards: 6 (Solutions) Objectives: ● Be able to understand how molality (m) afftects Colligative Properties such as ΔTb (change boiling pt temp), ΔTf(change freezing pt temp) ● Mem Ions 4 - 45 pts DO NOW: p. 475 # 36 HOMEWORK: 1. Ch 15.3, Pract Probs, p. 475 33-36 (2 pts) Std 6 2.
