  1. Duties and Responsibilities of Flag Bearers

  2. Flag Bearers • Meet in designated area for 1st presentation • Four bearers, one on each corner of flag, (two taller bearers at top of flag) carry flag (horizontally)

  3. Flag Bearers • Check with referees or teams to make sure the flag is oriented correctly • Follow referees and line judges into playing area for presentation • Keep flag as taut as possible throughout presentation

  4. Flag Bearers • Flag bearers closer to the net will line up just outside attack line so all four flag bearers are on court facing score table. • When first referee signals, walk forward to the opposite sideline remaining just outside the attack line

  5. Flag Bearers • After teams are introduced, bearers walk off court to area near moppers’ chairs and give flags to adult supervisor • Flag bearers MAY assist in ball retrieving during warm-ups

  6. Flag Bearers Standard March In Protocol • March in • Until R1 gives signal • Presentation (No anthem)

  7. Flag Bearers Entering from other side depending on Venue • March in • Until R1 gives signal • Presentation (No anthem)

  8. Flag Bearers • Before end of warm-ups, get flags again and report to area behind benches. • Follow teams onto court from the bench area and stop in the same position as the earlier presentation.

  9. Flag Bearers Anthem Presentation • Start Position • Anthems

  10. Flag Bearers • When anthem for that country is played, bearers at top of flag raise the top so that flag is at 45 degree angle • Lower flag at end of anthem

  12. Flag Bearers • For tournament event, team A will be first, followed by team B, unless host team is playing. Then visitors first followed by home. • At end of both anthems, bearers walk off court to area near moppers’ chairs and give flags to adult supervisor
