Q ualit ative Research for Education: Theory and Methods

This course provides an introduction to qualitative research methodologies, including data collection, analysis, and application in educational settings. Students will learn the theoretical perspectives and practical procedures needed for conducting qualitative research projects. The course also covers ethics, proposal writing, and report/thesis completion. Additional resources and group work will enhance the learning experience.

  3. What the Course is about? Qualitative research is one of the methodological approaches for educational research. QR includes various means of obtaining in-depth understanding of educational phenomena in social settings. This course is not only an introduction to the theoretical perspectives which underlie qualitative research methodology, but also methods and procedures in collecting, categorizing, analyzing qualitative data, writing-up, and application of qualitative research.

  4. The course is designed for the students who are beginning their graduation thesis projects using qualitative research methods. We will focuson the issues, problems and strategies related to a qualitative research project in real educational settings. Students are required to read and discuss texts related to knowledge, conduct the field work including reviewing ethics, collecting and analyzing qualitative data, completing a proposal/paper/report/thesis.
