  2. Lesson 3 Talking About Sex In this lesson we are going to explore the language that we feel would be appropriate for the classroom in the hope that we can agree in order that no one feels uncomfortable or embarrassed.

TALKING ABOUT SEX • You are going to go into groups and write on a large piece of paper the words and language you would use to describe the heading at the top • The headings are; • FEMALE SEXUAL PARTS • MALE SEXUAL PARTS • SEXUAL ACTIVITIES • When you have listed all the words you can think of pass the sheets round the groups. Ensure you have the sheet you started with at the end.

TALKING ABOUT SEX Look at all the words • How did you feel about doing the exercise? • Do you find any of the words offensive? • Are any of the words particularly offensive to boys or girls? • How do feel about the words that are used as insults? • Are there any differences in the number of words used for boys and girls – what might this suggest?

TALKING ABOUT SEX Now look at all your words as well as those on the following slides and decide the following in small groups. • Which words are appropriate for family and carers? • Which words would be appropriate to use with a doctor or nurse? • Which words would be appropriate with a boyfriend / girlfriend? • Which words are appropriate in the classroom?
