  2. Objectives • To view the advanced networks, especially international ones in and around Asia Pacific region and the activities on them with theories of international relations • To stimulate the synergy between technology-oriented science and social science

  3. Advanced Networks • Definition & terminology • High performance network, high speed network, NGI, NGN, Internet2, etc. • Advanced networks in and around AP region • APAN, APII, TransPAC, TEIN, AI3, etc.

  4. Theories of International Relatioins • International Relations theory entails the development of conceptual frameworks and theories to facilitate the understanding and explanation of events and phenomena in world politics, as well as the analysis and informing of associated policies and practices.

  5. Challenge • Is it possible for AN and IR to meet each other? • How… • Analyze the present and the past • On its basis, Draw relevant future direction(s) • Synergy from Inter-disciplinary approach of AN and IR • Next step(s) for the BoF
