Successful Shea Project in GhanaRural Women Benefit From IT-Supported Value Chain • The Project • Shea nut / butter value chain • Connecting rural women to international markets through information technology, education and microfinance • Partnership with French NGO PlaNet Finance • Initially setup as three year project, ending 2011 • Now: Social business according to Prof. Yunus and H. Reitz • GCL consulted, PlaNet Finance drives, SAP powers operation • Impact • 4500 women achieve income increase between 58 and 82%* • SAP employees express pride that SAP is doing this • External recognition www.starshea.com SAP-TV Video * According to a case study from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where the first 1500 women have been evaluated
