  5. An natural hunter. Pythons and constrictors kill their prey by wrapping tightly around it.

  6. While all snakes have teeth only ones who are poisonous have fangs to help kill their pray. Q: What type of snake is pictured to the left and what other adaptation does this snake have? A: The snake pictured is a rattlesnake. These snakes not only possess fangs, but also have a rattle on the end of their tail.

  7. Not All Snakes are Created Equal An adaptation is a special feature in a plant or animal that helps it to survive. What unique feature helps snakes to see during the day?

  8. Looking deeper: As a snake grows it will need to shed its skin- including the skin that covers their eyes! Snakes do not have eyelids, instead they have specially adapted scales to cover and protect their eyes from a harmful environment.

Making snake eyes • Cut out the snake eye template. • Color your snake any way you choose! • Trace the template onto the construction paper. • Cut out the oval eye holes in the middle of the sunglass template. Then lay the template on the construction paper, cut along the traced template leaving you with two identical Snake eye masks. Trace around the eye holes on the construction paper using the template piece as a guide and cut the eye holes out of the construction paper. • Paste two pieces of plastic, one over each hole onto your template, and then paste the template to the construction paper with the colored side of the template facing out. • With some time to dry, your snake sunglasses are complete! • Want to attach a string to wear them? Ask a parent or teacher to help you hole punch the corners and attach a string.
