Terminal Arrival Area (TAA) 23 Only applicable to R-NAV Approaches Replaces MSA but still gives 1,000’ obstacle clearance (or more if necessary in mountainous areas) 30 NM arc based on fix for that part of TAA. Coincides with enroute-terminal course width change. MSA based on Rwy fix still in use. 25 NM radius. Just as the underlying approach “T” structure can be modified, so can the associated TAA. Although VERY uncommon, it is still legal and possible. Coming soon to an IAP near you. There is an article in the binder on this.
