  1. How the world and mankind were created Libby Weeks, Cole Smith, William Pyle, Todd Schultz, Jonathan Troupes, Shamar Collins

  2. Creation of Man • Hesiod version states that Prometheus was the creator of man. His brother Epitheus, the titan of afterthought, gave all the animals the gifts of speed, strength, and size. There was no gifts left to give man so Prometheus made them noble by having them walk upright like the gods. Then Prometheus gave a power greater than any so he gave them fire to ensure their success

  3. Later in the story Epimetheus tells the story of what he gave to all the animals. He explains how he gave all the good features to the animals such as; strength, swiftness, fur, feathers, wings, shells and more. Next he has to give something to humans to make them superior to animals so he gives humans fire.

  4. The second creation of man has five stages. The first is the golden man. These people are mortals who live like gods. The next is the silver race. The silver race have little intelligence and have no spirits after death. Then is the brass race who are the heros. These people are the “terrible men.” The bronze race Finally is the 5th race. The fifth race are the ones on earth and are evil. This race is the bronze race.

  5. Zeus’ Punishment of Prometheus Zeus punished Prometheus because he gave man fire. When Prometheus gave man fire he made it so that he the best of all the sacrifices and he gods would get the worst. As punishment he tortured Prometheus, he eventually chained him to a rock where a hawk would come everyday and disembowel him but he would heal every night so that he could experience the pain.

  6. Pandora • The gods filled a box into which each had put something harmful and gave it toPandora. They gave her to Epimetheus who then gave her to Prometheus. Pandora was naturally curious and opened it. Once she opened it plagues of sorrow and mischief were let out into the world. The only thing left when she closed it was hope. Hope is mankind’s sole comfort in misfortune. The plagues were released as revenge and mortals learned that you should never deceive Zeus.

  7. The Flood • Zeus was unhappy with the behavior of the humans. So to punish them he sent a big flood to kill off the humans to start fresh with uncorrupted humans. • The only two people that survive the flood were Deucalion and Pyrrha, Prometheus’s son and niece. • The Stone people were born with stone bones. They were born to rescue the Earth after the flood.
