This poster demonstrates some of the many ways Scientist officers help lead the Commissioned Corps to ensure a strong America and to improve public health access across our nation and throughout the world. • Conducting public health research • Deploying for disasters, event assistance • Enhancing international public health capacity • Collaborating on special missions • Community service & volunteer efforts • Promoting the USPHS LT Sharyn Parks conducting Community Assessment for Public Health Emergency Response (CASPER) after the 2009 Kentucky ice storms CAPT Armen Thoumaian on deployment with the US Army 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan on a special mission to develop & implement projects to improve health care infrastructure, especially related to maternal & child health.
