Mentors vs Host teachers
What do mentors do? Help the mentees with LP and everything related to planning and delivering the lesson
What do mentors do? • Attend the pre-service (not on vacation) • Help plan and present the Academic Meetings • Help the mentee with coaching sessions (face-to-face or over the phone) • Observe the mentees • Give them feedback • Welcome the mentees in class for observation

When the mentee observes the mentor or another teacher What’s the idea? • To identify the principles • To have a model to follow • To reflect on his/her own TP
You observe the mentee´s class • Pre-meeting (face-to-face or over the phone) • CLASS OBSERVATION (take notes) • Post-meeting: aka FEEDBACK session • Fill out the form and send itto him/her • Update the mentee´s manager(s) • Mentee reads it, makes comments, signs it and returns all the original docs to you • You sign it and send it to Anninha
When the mentee observes the mentor, s/he should have FORM A or FORM B with him/her
After all the observations (end of CYCLE ONE), you must send all the forms (observation form + feedback form) to Anninha
CYCLE TWO The mentor observes the mentee’s class (final assessment)
CYCLE THREE* The mentor observes the mentee’s class (if the previous one was not successful)
ATTENTION 1 The mentee, the manager, the mentor CANNOT choose another teacher to be observed – if needed The Academic Department will inform you who the teacher is
ATTENTION 2 The mentee CANNOT simplyshow up at a teacher’s class The other teacher MUST be informed of the mentee’s visit IN ADVANCE
