Yellow HatFunction - Benefits • All the good things about the idea. Yellow is sunny and positive – the yellow hat is about positive assessment (based on a range of experience such as available information, logical deduction, trends, guesses and even hopes).
Black HatFunction - Cautions • Everybody must think of potential pitfalls. • Black is sombre and serious – the black hat is cautious and careful; it points out potential weakness in an idea.
Green HatFunction - New Ideas • Augmentation to the original idea. • Green is vegetation, growth and abundant – the green hat indicates creativity and new ideas.
WhiteFunction: Information Needed • Missing gaps in terms of data. • White is neutral and objective – the white hat is concerned with objective facts and figures.
Blue HatFunction - Controls • Implementation issues, structures. • Blue is cool and distant – the blue hat is concerned with control and the organization of the implementation process, the practical next steps.
Red HatFunction – Emotional Reaction • What do you all feel in your gut about this? • Red suggests emotions – the red hat gives the emotional view.
