Forgiveness ≠ Forgetting We do people a disservice when we say, “Unless you forget, you truly haven’t forgiven.” Forgetting is a biological action.
Forgiveness ≠ Weakness When we don’t forgive, we tell ourselves one of two things: Anything less than perfection is not acceptable Error is a proof of our innate worthlessness. By forgiving others, we give ourselves space to acknowledge our own flaws and accept them. Forgiveness is an act of strength, not weakness.
Forgiveness ≠ Reconciliation Forgiveness is an internal process. While reconciliation is an outward process, it requires two people to come together.
