  8. In other words, Why Study Revelation? Overview • Daniel? • Yes…the 70 Weeks Prophecy! • Daniel 9:24 - 27 • Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) First Ministry • The Spring Feasts of efei • Yeshua fulfilled each of these to the moment • The Fall Feasts of EFEI • Yeshua will fulfill each of these • Are We to Watch? • Intro to Revelation to the moment Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  9. Berean Challenge • Chuck Missler is fond of telling his audience not to believe anything he tells you, but to be like the Bereans. Paul, speaking of the Bereans, stated: “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11 Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  10. 8 Matthew 24 • Before we look at Daniel… • Read Matthew 24:4 – 31 • 24:9 – Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted • 24:10 – And then shall many be offended • 24:14 – and then shall the end come • 24:16 – Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains • 24:21 – For then shall be great tribulation • 24:23 – Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not • 24:30 – And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  11. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God Daniel 9:24 - 27 Do we have everlasting righteousness? To whom is this prophecy given? Israel Not the Church! • “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. • Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. Has there been an end of sins? The 70 Weeks of Daniel are still incomplete!

  12. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God Jewish Weeks (Daniel 9:24) • They use the word “week” like we use the word “dozen” • Week of days (we use it too…7 days) • Week of weeks (Shavuot) • Week of months • Week of years • Example: Genesis 29:27, Laban tells Jacob to “Fulfill her (Rachel's) week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.” • Just as there is a Sabbath for man, there is a Sabbath for the land • Six years they plow the land, and they let it lay rest in the 7th year • If I say I’m leaving and will be back in a decade, when would you expect me back?

  13. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God How many years did God allow the Israelites to ignore His law? Jewish Weeks (Daniel 9:24) How many times did Jesus tell Peter to forgive his brother? (Matthew 18:22) • Jewish Weeks • This is why God made the Israelites slaves in Babylon for seventy years… • Because the people had failed to keep the Sabbath of the land for 490 years, God sought to recover His 70 years “For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.”Jeremiah 29:10 490 seems to be the end of God’s leash, so to speak…

  14. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God Commandment to Rebuild (Daniel 9:25) commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem • There were four decrees in history to rebuild the temple, but only one of them included the decree to rebuild the CITY • Nehemiah got permission from Artaxerxes Longimonus to rebuild the CITY WALL

  15. Time? • “Time, Times, and ½ Time” • “Times” = dual, later lost in Aramaic 1 + 2 + ½ = 3 ½ • 3½ years Dan 12:7 • 42 months Rev 11:2; 13:5 • 1260 days Rev 11:3; Dan 12:6 • ½ “week” Dan 9:27 Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  16. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God Daniel 9:24 - 27 Verse 25 dealt with 69 of the weeks It’s called a week of years It’s called 2 half weeks of years It’s called two 3½-year periods It’s called two42-month periods It’s called two1260-day periods This is the most documented period of time in the Bible! But let’s not forget Verse 26!!! • And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. • And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.” Verse 27 deals with the 70th week of Daniel

  17. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God …shall Messiah be cut off (Daniel 9:26) • This is a prophecy of Jesus’ crucifixion, and it’s over 400 years old! • The Messiah was indeed executed, but not for himself • The city and the sanctuary were destroyed 38 years later when the Roman legions (5th, 10th, 12th, and 15th), under Titus Vespasian, leveled the city of Jerusalem in A.D. 70, precisely as Daniel and Jesus had predicted

  18. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God Waiting for the 70th Week (Daniel 9:27) • There are a series of events that must occur after the 69th week but before the 70th (clue that there is an interval) • Verse 26 requires at least 38 years between the completion of the 69th week and the beginning of the 70th • We know, from experience, that it has been at least 1,976 years • The 70th week is detailed in the Bible, but best in Revelation chapters 6 through 19 (coming soon!)

  19. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God When was the Messiah’s Hour? (Daniel 9:25) “…that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks:…” • The Decrees to “Rebuild Jerusalem”? • 1) Cyrus, 537 B.C. Ezra 1:2-4 • 2) Darius Ezra 6:1-5, 8, 12 • 3) Artaxerxes, 458 B.C. Ezra 7:11-26 • 4) Artaxerxes Longimonus , 445 B.C.Nehemiah 2:5-8, 17, 18

  20. Nominal 360-Day Years • Biblical usage: Genesis (Gen 7:24; 8:3,4); Daniel (Dan 9:27; 12:6); Revelation (Rev 11:2,3; 13:5) • Ancient calendars based on 360-day years • Assyrians, Chaldeans, Egyptians, Hebrews, Persians, Greeks, Phoenicians, Chinese, Mayans, Hindus, Carthaginians, Etruscans, Teutons, et al • All these calendars were based on a 360-day year; typically, twelve 30-day months. (In ancient Chaldea, their calendar was based on a 360-day year and it is from this Babylonian tradition that we have 360 degrees in a circle, 60 minutes to an hour, 60 seconds in each minute, etc.) Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  21. Nominal 360-Day Years • In 701 B.C., all calendars appear to have been reorganized • NumaPompilius, the second King of Rome, reorganized the original calendar of 360 days per year, by adding 5 days per year • King Hezekiah, Numa’s contemporary, reorganized his Jewish calendar by adding a month each Jewish leap year (on a cycle of 7 among every 19 years) Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  22. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God When was the Messiah’s Hour? (Daniel 9:25) • If you multiply 69 weeks (7 years each) of 360-day years, you get 173,880 days • The decree to rebuild Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2) occurred on March 14, 445 BC (going forth of the commandment) • “…unto the Messiah the Prince (Meshiach Nagid)…” isThe Triumphal Entry • April 6, 32 AD was the 10th of Nisan

  23. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God When was the Messiah’s Hour? (Daniel 9:25) • If we do the math and count days fromMarch 14, 445 BC to April 6, 32 AD • There is no year zero (0), so we have to subtract it back out(goes from -1 BC to 1 AD) • Multiply that by our calendar of 365 days = 173,740 days • 140 other little nuances including leap years that must be factored back out • We end up with 173,880 days exactly! • This is the PRECISE number of days that Gabriel told Daniel in this verse, 5 centuries earlier • This was the very day that Israel was to receive their King!

  24. The Target • The MeshiachNagid: “The Messiah the King” (Nagid is first used of King Saul) • The prediction is to the presentation of the Messiah the King • On several occasions in the New Testament when they attempted to take Jesus as a King, He invariably declined, “Mine hour is not yet come.” (John 6:15; 7:30, 44; etc.) Then one day, He arranges it Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  25. Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God When was the Messiah’s Hour? (Daniel 9:25) If you carefully examine Yeshua’s specific words, it appears that He held them accountable to know this astonishing prophecy – “Because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.”Luke 19:44 • Why was Jerusalem destroyed?

  26. The Triumphal Entry “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.” • Zechariah 9:9 • All four Gospels, Matthew 21:1-9; Mark 11:1-10; Luke 19:29-39; John 12:12-16 • Nisan 10: “take to everyone a lamb.” • Jesus deliberately arranges to fulfill Zechariah 9:9 • This is the only day He allows them to proclaim Him King (Luke 19:38) Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  27. Judgment Declared • Jesus held them accountable to recognize this very day (Luke 19:41-44) • This was the 10th of Nisan, prior to the Passover on the 14th of Nisan, A.D. 32 “And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.” Luke 19:41-42 Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  28. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning theFeastsof the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holyconvocations, even these areMy Feasts.”Leviticus 23:2 • Why Study the Feasts of efei? Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  29. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) “The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:” Matthew 22:2-5 • Why Study the Feasts of efei? Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  30. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) • Convocation: miqra’,something called out, i.e. a public meeting, also a rehearsal • My appointed feasts – Divine Appointments or Signals for My people Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  31. Calendars • Genesis 1:14 says “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night and let them be for signs (owth), and for seasons (mow`ed), and for days, and years:” • Gregorian – Based solely on the sun • Muslim – Based solely on the moon • Hijra Calendar, based on Muhammad’s emigration from Mecca to Medina – they H and AH as we use BC and AD • Biblical – Based on The Creator! • Sun, moon, stars, planets (heavens) – • Genesis 1:14 – 19 gives us the story of the creation of the 4th day, during which efei created these and said to let them be for signs, seasons, days, and years… Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  32. Calendars • Owth – A signal for His appearing, at His predetermined, appointed times Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  33. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning theFeastsof the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holyconvocations, even these areMy Feasts.”Leviticus 23:2 • Remember Leviticus 23:2 Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  34. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the Divinely Appointed times of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy Dress Rehearsals, even these are my divinely set appointments.” • Another rendering could be: Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  35. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) Spring Passover Unleavened Bread Firstfruits (PUF) Fall Trumpets Atonement Booths or Tabernacles (TAB) Summer Weeks or Pentecost Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  36. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) Spring Passover Unleavened Bread Firstfruits Fall Trumpets Atonement Booths or Tabernacles Summer Weeks or Pentecost The Spring Feasts have been fulfilled at His first coming! Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  37. How many days is the Feast of Unleavened Bread? Why? The Spring Feasts • Passover(Pesach 14 Nisan)– On this day, efei provided the perfect Sacrifice to remove all sin; the shed blood of Yeshua, “our Passover…sacrificed for us” (1 Corinthians 5:7) • Unleavened Bread (Hag HaMatzot 15-21 Nisan) – A 7-day festival picturing Yeshua’s followers removing pride, and the way of sin – “…the leaven of malice and wickedness…” (1 Corinthians 5:8) – replacing these with the “…unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” (same verse), which is efei‘s law (Psalm 119:142) and Word (Matthew 4:4; John 17:17) Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  38. The Spring Feasts • Efei uses the number seven as a sign of perfection. This 7-day feast represents the lifelong process of removing sin from one’s life, to “Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:48) • To be born into efei’s kingdom, one must live according to the laws governing that kingdom Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  39. The Spring Feasts • The Feast of Firstfruits (Yom HaBikkurim 16 Nisan) – When the people offered the first ripe sheaf of barley to efei as an act of dedicating the harvest to him. Counting the days (omer) then begins and continues until the day after the seventh Sabbath, the 50th day, which is Shavuot or Pentecost. This is representative of Yeshua’s resurrection, as He was the “…firstfruits of them that slept.” (1 Corinthians 15:20) Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  40. The Fall Feasts • The Feast of Trumpets (Rosh HaShanah 1 Tishri) – This pictures the triumphant day when Yeshua returns as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Revelation 19:16) to establish the government of efei and rule all nations Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  41. The Fall Feasts • Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur 10 Tishri) – On this day, the collective sins of mankind will be placed upon the originator of carnal nature: Satan, who, for the past 6,000 years, as the “...prince of the power of the air…” (Ephesians 2:2) has broadcast every sick, vile, and perverse attitude, motive and thought possible. With Satan and his angels cast into the pit, man will be at one with his maker (atonement means at-one-ment), ready to come under the dominion of efei’s government Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  42. The Fall Feasts • Feast of Booths or Tabernacles (Sukkot 15-21 Tishri) – Next is the 1,000 year millennial reign of Yeshua, during which time He will rule over the entire world to come. There will be no more wars, no violence, no divorce, no adultery, no split families. People will live efei’s way of GIVE rather than Satan’s way of GET. The terror, despair, and insecurity of this modern age will be replaced with true joy, prosperity, and security – the fruit of diligently observing efei’s law Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  43. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) • efei predetermined the divinely appointed day – the when, the how, and even what music would be sung at His Son’s funeral • All the Feasts were Dress Rehearsals for that fateful day on the very days they would occur! • Spring Feasts == Divine appointments of His first coming Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  44. The Feasts of the LORD (efei) efei has also predetermined the divinely appointed day – the when, the how, and even what music will be sung at His Son’s second coming! Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  45. The Fall Feasts of the LORD (efei) Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) Yom Teruah (Feast of Trumpets) Sukkot Feast of Booths or Tabernacles FALL FEASTS Just as the Spring Feasts were the dress rehearsals for Messiah’s first coming; the Fall Feasts are the dress rehearsals for His second coming!! Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  46. Are We to Watch? “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. (2) For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. (3) For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. (4) But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. (5) Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. (6) Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.” 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 • So what does all of this mean to us, the Church? Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  47. Are We to Watch? “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, (2) That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. (3) Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; (4) Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. (5) Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? ” 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5 • Is this what we are to watch for? Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

  48. Intro to Revelation • This is the only book in the Bible to promise you (and God never fails to keep His promises) a special blessing for reading, hearing, and keeping what is written therein “Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand. ” Revelation 1:3 Mastering the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.
