  7. Vision The CHBA-NL is recognized as the voice of the residential construction industry in the province. Our members are professionals involved in all aspects of new home construction and residential renovations, and are dedicated to the business of building affordable, quality homes.

  8. Mission The CHBA-NL is a not-for-profit association. Members include new home builders, renovators, developers, trades, manufacturers, suppliers, lenders, government reps and other industry professionals. We are the voice of the industry advocating on behalf of members. The CHBA-NL offers services to members through learning, encouraging excellence. We are committed to providing affordability and choice in housing for all Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans.

Goal #1 - To influence a positive direction and acceptance within the industry Raising the CHBA-NL’s public profile • Updating website: • improving functions and adding a "members-only“ area • Social media integration: • using Hootsuite to integrate all social media accounts • Monthly E-newsletter: • 14 issues, 10 member updates, and 350+ distribution • News releases to media: • 9 in total for events, activities and news stories • Media requests for interviews: • 16 in total for radio, the television and newspaper • Media appearances: • exponentially higher than ever before directly related to industry, policy, events • More focused advertising and marketing: • for events, forums, conferences and social activities

  14. Improving municipal relations – Mayor Ken MacDonald (CBS) and Mayor Dennis O’Keefe (St. John’s) speak at membership luncheons • Mayor O’Keefe is subsequently quoted in the news

Goal #3 - To ensure the long-term growth of the Association • Strengthening the administrative functions of the Association • By-Laws and Policies and Procedures under review; delayed due to national changes • Hiring of a Membership Services Coordinator, resulting in: • Launch of RenoMark Program • Launch of Master Builder Certification Program • Launch of Members' Advantage Program (MAP) • Improved public profile on social networking sites • Monthly release of the E-newsletter • Completion of the Building "Yes": A NIMBY Toolkit • Dedicated efforts to improve and update the CHBA-NL website • Policy submissions and recommendations to municipal reps

Maintaining the financial sustainability of CHBA-NL New Audit Committee – modernized reporting system, strengthened controls and risk management policy in place New Sponsorship Menu – a suite containing all CHBA-NL events, activities, marketing opportunities and package options for members and non-members Results of Membership Fee Increase – the Association initially lost 27 members but gained 19 new members in 2013 at the updated fee level As a result, the CHBA-NL is in a healthier financial position than prior to the fee increase and is attracting new members
