  4. Be aware of the locations and uses of the following safety equipment • fire blanket • ABC fire extinguisher • emergency eye wash station • first aid kit • broken glass container • office call button • exit doors

  6. Know the fire drill procedure: • 1.Push in chairs • 2. shut off all electrical equipment (hot plates, computers, lights, etc.) • 3. close all room doors • 4.follow the Fire Exiting Procedures posted at the front of the room by the door.

  7. eye wash station If you get something in your eye……….. Rinse and tell me ASAP

  12. Please inform the teacher IMMEDIATELY if you or a classmate are injured in any way. Follow the teacher's instructions exactly!

  13. If you or a classmate spills any material, please inform the teacher immediately. Tell the teacher what was spilled and follow the teacher's clean up instructions exactly!

  14. How to heat up substance Whenever heating material in a test tube, never point the mouth of the tube at your neighbor or at yourself. Wrong way Correct Way

  15. Read Procedures When doing labs, always read through and understand the lab PRIOR to beginning any procedure. Whenever in doubt about a procedure or laboratory operation, always consult with your instructor first. Listen to pre-lab instructions.

  16. Never perform any experiment that has not been assigned or authorized.

  17. Do not eat or drink in the lab. Do not taste any substances unless given permission. • Always wash your hands after any lab • that involves chemicals.

  18. Be aware of electricity at all times! Respect electricity! Keep all fluids away from outlets. Report any frayed or damaged cords.

  19. If you break any glass……… report it to the teacher immediately. If instructed to , sweep up broken glass very carefully. Place all broken glass into the Broken Glass Container - not the trash can.

  20. Waft! Waft! Waft! Never smell any container directly with your nose. • Wave your hand gently over the open container to move the odor toward your nose.

  21. Handle all equipment carefully If any equipment breaks during a lab or is found broken, report it to the teacher immediately!

  22. Clean your station!! At the end of the laboratory session: • clean your lab bench/desk top • clean and put equipment away • put all trash into proper containers • Wash your hands
