  1. Photosynthesis Lab Instructor: Mrs. Turner Principles of Biology Nathan Marcy Tim Waldrip Amanda Matsumura Alisa Craig

  2. Introduction • There is a need for laboratory reference materials in order to show to absent students in NWACC science classes. We have made a video showing a lab on photosynthesis with verbal and written directions and visual aids.

  3. Project Overview To indentify and describe the methods of photosynthesis presented in the lab. To give a visual aid to learning the lab content To give simplistic directions for completing the lab.

  4. Community Aspect • We have helped fellow students to understand and recreate the photosynthesis lab. • We also gave the science department a resource to fulfill state frameworks by exposing to students who have missed the photosynthesis lab. Community Contacts Mike Willard John Story Ellen Turner

  5. Course Content Objectives • Know the organisms that carry out photosynthesis • Learn the structure of chloroplast • Learn the overall equations for photosynthesis • Learn the major events of light independent and dependent reactions. • Show how pigments absorb light • Learn the electromagnetic spectrum

  6. Methods • Record the lab being done: Amanda Matsumura • Explain directions while recording the lab: Tim Waldrip • Take pictures of materials needed: Alisa Craig • Give clearly stated instructions for the lab: Nathan Marcy

  7. Materials • Lab materials needed: • Bromothymol Blue solution • Elodea • Clear plastic vials with lids • Soda straws • Light source (overhead projector) • Erlenmeyer flask (125 mL)
