THIS YEAR THE GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS TOOK INTEREST IN COMPETITIVENESS.

THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS HAS APPROVED THE PROGRAMME OF STRUCTURAL ADJUSTMENT AND RISE OF COMPETITIVENESS OF THE BELARUSIAN ECONOMY.

BELARUS HAS NOT BEEN IN THE LIST OF THE WEF. NEITHER 13 COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES, NOR “GROWTH POINTS” PRESENTED BY 62 LEADERS OF DOMESTIC INDUSTRY ATTRACTED THE ATTENTION OF THE EXPERTS FROM DAVOS.

IN 2002 MORE THAN A QUARTER OF THE BELARUSIAN EXPORT CONSISTED OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND TRANSPORT VEHICLES (25.9%)

HIGH TECHNOLOGY HAS A VERY SMALL SHARE IN THE ECONOMY.

SO, IF IT IS CHEMICALS A SHARE OF PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCT ACCOUNTS FOR ONLY 10%.

IF IT IS MACHINERY, EQUIPMENT AND MECHANISMS A SHARE OF ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS IS 2.7%, ELECTRIC TRANSFORMERS – 3.5%, INSULATED CONDUCTORS – 2.5%.

THE EXTERNAL ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES OF THE PROGRAM ARE DIRECTED ON THE DESICION OF THE MAIN TASK - CREATION OF THE FAVORABLE ECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT FOR PROMOTION OF THE BELARUS GOODS ON FOREIGN MARKETS (POLITICAL AND DIPLOMATIC SUPPORT, INTEGRATION INTO THE INTERNATIONAL TRADING ORGANIZATIONS, CREATION OF COMMODITY DISTRIBUTION NETWORK AND AND ADVERTISING-MARKETING NETWORKS, PAYMENT SYSTEMS).

ACTIONS OF THE PROGRAM ARE DIRECTED ON THE DECISION OF FOUR IMPORTANT PROBLEMS:

  • CREATION OF THE MACROECONOMIC ENVIRONMENT (INCLUDING CURRENCY-FINANCIAL AND A MONETARY AND CREDIT SYSTEM), FAVORABLE TO DEVELOPMENT OF EXPORT;
