Work Based Learning • What? • A full Level 3 Module • NOT a Language Module • A Module for team-working and employability • Combines all the skills learnt and provides evidence to employers of practical outcome (language, team-working, researching, IT, project management, report writing, time management, etc) • Won Merit Award in 2003 “Languages for Export” awards, presented by UK Trade & Investments
Work Based Learning What ? • Organise your Project Groups • Undertake a market research project relating to UK, France, Spain, Germany or another country on behalf of a local company • Visit the company to learn about their products, clients and marketing strategy & discuss the Project brief
Work Based Learning What ? • Undertake the Project between October 2006 and April 2007 • Work as a team • Maintain liaison with the Project Company • Attend 3 Group Tutorials with Graham • Deliver the Project Report and outcomes in a presentation to the Company in April 2007
Work Based Learning What ? • Complete the assessment: • Final Written Group Report of 3,000 words in English • Individual Reflective Written Report of 1,500 words in English • Group Oral Presentation to the company • Complete Peer Assessment forms
Work Based Learning What ? Assessment: • Group Report 50% • Individual Reflective Report 30% • Group Oral Presentation 20% • To include Peer Assessment
Work Based Learning When ? • Lectures: 6 successive weeks • Company visits: 23 Oct - 10 Nov • Group Tutorials: Nov, Feb, Apr • Dates & times to be advised on separate sheet • Assessment in April/May 2007
Work Based Learning When ? • Company Presentations: • Between 23 April and 4 May 2007 • Assessment dates: • Group Report 27 April 2007 • Individual Report 4 May 2007 • Peer Assessment Forms 4 May 2007

Work Based Learning Why ? • Use appropriate research skills and language strategies to obtain specific and pertinent information and deliver succinct reports
