  2. Introduction • Turn in your notebooks to page 10 #1 What do plants need in order to live and grow? Refer back to your KWL charts for some ideas.

  3. Think and Wonder… Have you ever worked in a garden? If you have, you know you must be careful how you put seeds in the ground. During this lesson, you will be planting seeds that grow very fast. Read how to plant them on the instruction sheet pages 11-14. http://bcove.me/517mb0y8

  4. Materials • Refer to page to see all your supplies you will need: Check your tray for: 1 planter quad 1 spoon 1 cup of potting mix 4 blue wicks 12 fertilizer pellets (large) 8 Wisconsin Fast Plant seeds 1 toothpick 1 planter label 1 pair of forceps 1 paper towel

  5. TIPS to Remember… • Be sure the fertilizer pellets go in FIRST – NOT the seeds • DO NOT plant the seed too DEEP. Seeds that are planted too deeply will not germinate, or sprout appropriately. • A great splash of water will wash out the seed. Each section must be soaked gently. • Be sure that all quads are about 2 to 3 inches from the lightbulbs • Check that all quads are sitting under the light bank on the water mat.

  6. Predict! After you plant your seeds, think about what happened to your bean seeds after being soaked in water. Now predict what you think will happen to your seeds. Answer #2 in your notebooks on page 10: #2 What will happen to your Brassica seeds over the next 24 hours?
