  2. Campaign Objectives for Fall 2007 • Define open enrollment & successfully serve those who are enrolling or making a change. • Leverage true collaborative partnerships. • Highlight and encourage utilization of Medicare resources. • Increase awareness and Utilization of Preventive benefits

  3. Low-Income Subsidy • Individuals who no longer automatically qualify • No longer have both Medicare and Medicaid • Belong to a Medicare Savings Program (partial dual-eligible) • Receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits • Encourage these individuals to apply for the extra help with SSA or their Medicaid office.

  4. Preventive Services Medicare-covered preventive services help: • Prevent disease • Diagnose disease early when it is most treatable • Manage disease so complications can be avoided • Realize cost savings

Spreading the Prevention Message • Partner with organizations to hold local events to promote preventive services • Coordinate with CMS Regional Offices to receive invitations to events and planning sessions • Obtain copy of latest Medicare & You Handbook for direct mailing about preventive services • Develop a preventive services resource guide that would provide state and community resources, including • immunization services (such as health departments and VNAs) • cancer screening and support group information • local diabetes and heart association chapters • smoking cessation
