What is the Carbon Portal Project • An Innovative & Collaborative SFHA Members Project • Key Elements include; • Thermographic Imaging of 10,000 properties across Scotland • 2,000 properties for insulation work • Re-Imaging of insulated units • Collection & Analysis of the Data / Results • Web based Portal aggregating and allowing members and stakeholders to see / analyse savings made (£’s & Carbon) • A data-set that demonstrates the sectors’ contribution and support for the Governments wider Policy agenda • A tool that has the potential to become a shared resource with others. • Sponsored by the Scottish Government

  4. Why we initiated this • SFHA Business Plan – Jan 2009 • Member collaborative projects • Demonstrate sectors contribution to Green Policy • Engage and leverage benefits from member collaborative working • Pilot, learn, refine and roll-out model working • Greener Scotland….

Context – A Greener Scotland • The Scottish Government has set challenging short-term CO2 emission reduction targets, to support UK commitments under the Kyoto Protocol • Building Performance to increase by 25% • By 2010: • CO2 reductions for domestic property of 30%, 50% for non-domestic • Scotland Regulations to match Nordic regime • By 2013: 60% CO2 reduction for domestic property • Scotland aims to be “carbon neutral” by 2030 (Source: Sullivan Report)

  12. What Happens Next? • RSL analysis with insulator(s) re prioritising & Scheduling work for summer / Autumn. • Completion of Requirements gathering of Portal. • Build of Portal expected to begin July / August • Re-Imaging of c.2,000 insulated units – Early autumn • Portal launch Nov/Dec.
