  2. Fisheries Restoration Grant Program • Collaborative effort • Focuses on restoring anadromous fish habitat • Goal of ensuring the survival and protection of salmon and steelhead trout in coastal areas of California.

  3. Fisheries Restoration Grant Program • Projects funded by the FRGP are limited to the coastal areas of California.

  4. Fisheries Restoration Grant Program Fund Sources Funding for proposals are subject to the availability of funds and approval of the Budget Act for the 2003/2004 Fiscal Year.

  5. Fisheries Restoration Grant Program • To qualify for a grant proposed projects must improve, protect, restore or lead to the improvement, protection, or restoration of salmon and steelhead habitat. • To qualify for a grant you must be representing a public agency, non-profit organization, private enterprise, or Indian Tribe.

Fisheries Restoration Grant ProgramCompetitive Process • Solicitation advertised February (posted on Web page) • Due date in May • Technical Review May through August • Advisory Committee Review August through October/November • Advisory Committee recommendations forwarded to Director of DFG November/December • Director of DFG announces grants selected for funding in December/January • Goal: Grants in place by the summer season.

  9. Fisheries Restoration Grant Program • The Grant Program has been in place since 1981. Accomplishments include: • Invested more than $100 million • Supported more than 2,000 projects • Involved more than 600 partners • Worked in 2,589 Coastal Streams
