  5. History • 1899- 1955 – Sudan ruled by the Anglo-Egyptian condominium. • 1955- is when the Sudenese civil war began. • 1983- second civil war begins. • 1978- oil was discovered. • 1999- oil began to be exported.

  6. NATURAL RESOURCES • Petroleum is the biggest natural resource. There are small reserves of iron ore, chromium ore, zinc, mica, silver and gold.

  7. Civil war • This conflict is likely to continue to affect Sundan’s people for the rest of the of the twentieth century. • century is it has caused anendless cycle of weak and ineffective military and civillan gove ments.

  8. RELIGION • Customs • The Eid al- Fitr, or Breaking of the Ramadan Fast, is a joyous occasion and involves a larger Family meal.

  9. LIFE STYLE • The odds of dying in Sudan are higher than completing elementary schools. • They are short on food and water. • Arabic is the official language but there are more than 100 tribal language. • Many men leave their families each year to work as labourers in cities, or work commerical farms , or overseas.
