  1. im_r_matrix:Extend NN elastic scattering angular distribution up to 5 GeV Gunter Folger 22-Feb-2012 Hadronic working group meeting

  2. Content • Im_r_matrix is scatterer for • Binary Casacde • QMD model • nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering angular distribution • Effect on Cascade performance • Comparison to data using Binary Cascade

  3. im_r_matrix NN elastic scattering angular distribution • Uses SAID database by R.A.Arndt and L.D.Roper • implemented in coherent_eleasticG4LEnp/G4LEpp • Old implementation valid to 1.2 GeV • Recently implemented extension to 5 GeV • See talk of Fred Jones @ ESA G4 workshop • Scatterer uses a “copy” of G4LEnp and G4LEpp and associated data • Extension transferred into scatterer classes • G4AngularDistribution{PP,NP} and associated data classes

  4. Effect on Cascade performance • Expect improvement at energies above 1.2 GeV • Data identical below 1.2 GeV • Use Binary Cascade in test30 • p Al -> n X , p Pb -> n X at momentum 3GeV • P Fe -> n X at momentum 1.5 GeV

  5. p Fe -> n X @ 1.5GeV/c

  6. p Al -> n X @ 3GeV/c

  7. pPb -> n X @ 3GeV/c

  8. Summary • Angular distribution for NN elastic scattering parameterised to 5 GeV • Improvements seen in forward angles at energies >~ 1.5 GeV • Effect for QMD ?
