  19. Confession of Sin Leader: The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

  20. Congregation: Father, be gracious to us. Give us eyes to see the tragedy of our sin.

  21. Jesus, be our substitute for us. Let us turn from our wickedness and trust in Your saving work. Spirit, be pleased to dwell in us. Let us be led by you each moment of our day. Amen.

  22. O Sacred Head, Now Wounded O Sacred Head, now wounded, With grief and shame weighed down, Now scornfully surrounded with thorns Thine only crown.

  23. How pale art Thou with anguish, with sore abuse and scorn! Oh, how your face bears sorrow which once was bright as morn.

  24. Men mock and taunt and jeer Thee, Thou noble countenance, Though mighty worlds shall fear Thee and flee before Thy glance.

  25. Grim death, with cruel rigor, hath robbed Thee of Thy life; Thus Thou has lost Thy vigor, Thy strength, in this sad strife.

  26. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled.

  27. My burdens You have carried, My sins You have borne. For it was my transgression That brought this woe and scorn.

  28. I cast me down before Thee, Wrath my rightful lot, But You who have sweet mercy– Redeemer on the cross.

  29. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled. (x2) For me. For you. For us. (x3)

  30. When soul and body languish, Oh, leave me not alone, But take away mine anguish By virtue of Thine own!

  31. What language shall I borrow To thank Thee, dearest Friend, For this, Thy dying sorrow, Thy pity without end? “O Sacred Head Now Wounded” (1250) Words: Arnulf of Louvaint, JW Hassler Music: HL Hassler, JS Bach; Arr: Page CXVI CCLI: 11148322

  32. Dear Refuge of My Weary Soul Dear refuge of my weary soul, On Thee, when sorrows rise; On Thee, when waves of trouble roll, My fainting hope relies.

  33. On Thee I cast each rising grief, For Thou alone canst heal. Thy Word can bring a sweet relief For every pain I feel; this pain I feel.

  34. But oh! When gloomy doubts prevail, I fear to call Thee mine. The springs of comfort seem to fail, and all my hopes decline.

  35. Yet, gracious God, where shall I flee? Thou art my only trust. And still my soul shall cleave to Thee Though prostrate in the dust; in the dust.

  36. Hast Thou not bid me seek Thy face, and shall I seek in vain? And can the ear of sovereign grace Be deaf when I complain?

  37. No still the ear of sovereign grace attends the mourner’s prayer. Oh, may I ever find access To breathe my sorrows there.

  38. Thy mercy seat is open still. Here let my soul retreat. With humble hope attend Thy will And wait beneath Thy feet. (x2) Words: Anne Steele (1791) Arr: Riverside Worship Project, Dan Emerson CCLI: 11148322

  39. “Grace to You. Grace be With You.” Philippians 4:10-23 Sermon notes @ bible.com/e/1MJB

  40. Philippians 4:10-23 . 10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity. 11 Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. 12 I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

  41. 14 Yet it was kind of you to share my trouble. 15 And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only. 16 Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.

  42. 18 I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God. 19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20 To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

  43. 21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me greet you. 22 All the saints greet you, especially those of Caesar's household. 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

  44. Christian Contentment: Philippians 4:10-13 10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me.
