  16. O Sacred Head, Now Wounded O Sacred Head, now wounded, With grief and shame weighed down, Now scornfully surrounded with thorns Thine only crown.

  17. How pale art Thou with anguish, with sore abuse and scorn! Oh, how your face bears sorrow which once was bright as morn.

  18. Men mock and taunt and jeer Thee, Thou noble countenance, Though mighty worlds shall fear Thee and flee before Thy glance.

  19. Grim death, with cruel rigor, hath robbed Thee of Thy life; Thus Thou has lost Thy vigor, Thy strength, in this sad strife.

  20. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled.

  21. My burdens You have carried, My sins You have borne. For it was my transgression That brought this woe and scorn.

  22. I cast me down before Thee, Wrath my rightful lot, But You who have sweet mercy– Redeemer on the cross.

  23. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled by our hands. You bled. (x2) For me. For you. For us. (x3)

  24. When soul and body languish, Oh, leave me not alone, But take away mine anguish By virtue of Thine own!

  25. What language shall I borrow To thank Thee, dearest Friend, For this, Thy dying sorrow, Thy pity without end? “O Sacred Head Now Wounded” (1250) Words: Arnulf of Louvaint, JW Hassler Music: HL Hassler, JS Bach; Arr: Page CXVI CCLI: 11148322

  26. How Deep the Father’s Love for Us How deep the Father’s love for us – How vast beyond all measure – That He should give His only Son To make a wretch His treasure.

  27. How great the pain of searing loss – The Father turns His face away – As wounds which mar the chosen One Bring many sons to glory!

  28. Behold the Man upon a cross – My sin upon His shoulders – Ashamed I hear my mocking voice, Call out among the scoffers

  29. It was my sin that held Him there Until it was accomplished. His dying breath has brought me life. I know that it is finished.

  30. I will not boast in anything No gifts, no power, no wisdom But I will boast in Jesus Christ His death and resurrection.

  31. Why should I gain from His reward? I cannot give an answer, But this I know with all my heart: His wounds have paid my ransom.

  33. Philippians 2:1-11 “The Upside Down Kingdom: Pursuing Joy Through Humility” Sermon notes @ http://bible.com/e/1MJ4

  34. Philippians 2:1-11 2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.  .

  35. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

  36. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  37. Unified in Christ: . Philippians 2:1-4 2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, 2 complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. 3 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
