Che After the Cuban Revolution • Left Cuba in 1965 after Cuban Missile Crisis • Felt “betrayed” by Soviet Union and Fidel for backing down to the US. • Starts unsuccessful socialist revolutions in the Congo and Bolivia. • Finally captured and executed in 1967 by Bolivian gov’t soldiers supported by the CIA. • Final words: “Shoot! You are only killing a man!”

  6. Classwork • Divide up the reading (A- Che is a Villain, B- Cheis a hero) with your partner and answer the questions in your notebook. Share out and write down each others’ answers. • This will be checked off tomorrow at the beginning of class for your CW grade today.

  7. Powerpoint Presentation • With a partner, create a PowerPoint presentation answering the following questions: • Was Che a hero or a villain? (Provide at least THREE reasons in your answer) • Was Fidel a hero or a villain? (Provide at least THREE reasons in your answer) • Which person (Che or Fidel) was the better leader/man? Explain why. Include images/quotations when possible to support your explanations. You already have readings/notes on Che, but will likely have to do some internet research on Fidel. Make sure to CITE any websites you gather information from.

  8. Independent Work Expectations 1. It does not need to be silent, but it needs to remain ON-TASK. 2. If you are off-task, you will receive a reminder, and then you will begin earning demerits. 3. Each demerit you earn is also subtracted from your classwork grade (minus 1 point).
