  1. met.no: Status and Plans Helge Tangen, met.no – Tromsø office Arctic ROOS meeting, Luleå, December 18-19, 2007

  2. Status; models • HIRLAM, ECMWF, UM4 • Atmosphere, … • WAM • Waves • Ice forecast 20 km, 2 km to be launched soon

  4. Wind speed & direction Resolution(km) – 20x20,10x10,4x4, (1x1) IPY-THORPEX campaign: 4 km for major parts of Barents Sea

  5. WAM: Wave height & direction

  6. Current Speed vectors Resolution 4 km

  7. Drift modelling Oil spill Objects/peopler

  8. Observations • Radio soundings Jan Mayen, Bjørnøya, Ny-Ålesund (with Max Planck) • Synoptic: Jan Mayen, Bjørnøya, Hopen, Longyearbyen, several AWS in Svalbard • Ice state and thickness Hopen, ice state Bjørnøya

  9. Observations (2) • Synops along coast of Northern Norway • Satellite images from several polar orbiting missions • OSI SAF: Ice parameters and SST

  10. SST – OSI SAF product

  11. Forecasting in the Arctic at met.no • Regular daily foreasts for large sea areas • Weather, wind, visibility, waves, iceing • Polar Low monitoring and forecasting • Aviation forecasting

  12. Spesialvarsel for havområder Utstedt tirsdag 13.09.2005 kl. 10 UTC. Sterk kuling ventes i følgende områder: E4, F3, F4. 14. Dissemination of info • http://wms.met.no/moncoze (met.no model output combined with data from NERSC (TOPAZ, ASAR,MERIS) • http://senorge.no (shows wms layers from distributed sources (met.no, NVE) • http://wms.met.no/hydronord , focussed on the Barents Sea. met.no, NERSC, IMR, NIVA have intension to develop moncoze-client in a new project ”MONBASE” (Monitoring the Barents Sea Environment) • Partners in AROOS could work together on web-dissemination (wms, wfs, wcs)
