  6. 6. Neutralization • Special kind of double displacement reaction • Only happens between an acid (has H as the metal) and base (has OH as the non-metal) • Always makes a SALT and WATER In general, HB + XOH XB + H2O (also written as HOH)

  7. Example Predict the products made when: • hydrochloric acid reacts with lithium hydroxide • Sulfurous acid reacts with Sodium hydroxide
